How to Make a Love Potion
Updated: Oct 26, 2021
What is a Love Potion
A love potion is a potion designed to create feelings of love to push or, better yet, magically nudge the person who consumed the love potion in the direction of their soul mate. A love potion is usually brewed into a tea and drank warm.
The ingredients that you will use to create a love potion should already be in your kitchen. If not, you should not have any problems locating the ingredients in a local grocery store. Love potions are made with herbs and other simple ingredients that are readily available.
One thing love potions are not made for is to be consumed by someone you want to fall in love with you. The magic does not work like that. You will be the one drinking the love potion, and the magic will help guide you towards your lover.
A quick note on love spells and potions: When you perform a love spell or make a love potion, do not complete a love spell on a particular person or have them drink the love potion. Instead, focus on the traits and characteristics you are attracted to and would want in a lover when casting the spell or drinking your potion.

What Ingredients should you use in your Love Potion
When creating a love potion, you will want to make your homemade tea using herbs and spices that have magical associations with love.
I compiled a list of herbs and spices you can consider for your very own homemade love potion.
Daisy: This low flowering herb is native to western, central, and northern Europe but is common in the Americas and Australasia, and other temperate regions. It is often considered a troublesome weed, particularly in lawns. Young leaves can be eaten raw in salads or cooked as a potherb. Daisies are magically associated with love and charms for fertility.
Gardenia: Originated in Asia and is most commonly found growing in the far east. Its shiny green leaves and heavily fragrant white summer flowers are widely used in gardens and as houseplants. It has been in cultivation in China for at least a thousand years and was first introduced to English gardens in the mid-18th century. Gardenia is magically associated with love, harmony, healing, and peace.
Rose Geranium: It is indigenous to the Northeastern United States, where the herb has been utilized as a natural remedy for centuries. The plant features small flowers in a variety of colors. Many people feature the flowers in their gardens without even realizing the potential powers that the plants possess when used as herbs. Rose Geranium is magically associated with love, fertility, and healing.
Jasmine: is a sprawling shrub that usually grows about 10 to 15 feet tall. Some may reach 25 feet in height by attaching to the nearby structures. The plant is found growing in shrubberies, forests, valleys, ravines, thickets, woods, along rivers, and meadows. It can be eaten or used to flavor or scent tea. Jasmine is magically associated with love, meditation, spirituality, harmony, and prosperity.

Lavender: It is a bushy perennial growing from one to three feet tall. The needle-like foliage is blue-green to gray and has a balsam-like scent. The spike flowers are either lavender or white, depending on the variety. Most lavender is used for scenting potpourri and sachet mixtures. It can also be used in beverages and for pork, fish, and chicken dishes. Lavender is magically associated with love, harmony, tranquility, purification, and healing.
Rose: One of the most famous flowers. It has an unmistakable scent and is synonymous with love in folklore and literature. The rose is edible if unsprayed and prepared correctly. The rose is magically associated with love (not surprisingly), healing, divination, tranquility, harmony, psychic ability, spirituality, and protection.
Basil: It is an extremely versatile culinary herb and an excellent all-purpose magical herb. The best part of basil is you can find it in almost any spice rack. Basil is magically associated with love, prosperity, protection, purification, and tranquility.
Cinnamon: This is another versatile culinary herb that is almost guaranteed to be in your kitchen. Cinnamon is magically associated with love, healing, protection, prosperity, and purification.
A quick note: Please remember that taking anything internally without researching it can be dangerous. These ingredients and recipes are not intended to be used as authoritative medical advice. They are provided on this blog as folk wisdom.
How to Make your very own Homemade Love Potion
This recipe is for what I like to call "Love Tea" and it is excellent for relaxation and love. It has magical associations with love, happiness, peace, and harmony.
This tea is best consumed immediately after making it and should not be stored for consumption later.
Love Tea
What you will need
1 part lavender
1 part rose petals
1 part jasmine
A pinch of cinnamon
1 cup of boiling water
A small jar to mix your herbs in
How it's done
After gathering your ingredients, the first thing you want to do is put all of your herbs into a small jar and mix them.
Now you want to boil one cup of water. Once the water is at a boil, pour the cup of boiling water over one teaspoon of your herbal blend to brew it.
You will need to let the love tea steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Once it has steeped long enough, go ahead and strain it. Now it is ready, and you can drink your very own homemade love potion.
Just remember finding love is a magical experience, but sometimes, no matter how hard you try to find your soulmate, you might still need a little nudge of magic to push you both in the right direction. Good luck and enjoy!
